I have a cool video for you of our campaign…

One can hardly believe a full year has passed since our time in Argentina. Looking back at all the great memories we had, it still feels like it was yesterday…

I have to admit I do feel quite relieved that our campaign finished before the Corona pandemic hit… My PhD might have had to take another direction without all the data we collected there. The lockdown provided ample time for data analysis (and catching up with old overdue projects). Even though we have made good progress in data analysis, we still have so much data and so many ideas which we have not had the time to look into… Still an exciting future ahead…

Markus Geldenhuys was a PhD student at the Institute for Energy and Climate (IEK-7, Stratosphere) and a HITEC fellow. During his PhD, he was working on gravity waves observed by the infrared spectrometer GLORIA. He was responsible for forecasting, flight planning and data processing during the SOUTHTRAC Campaign.
